Bracket Racing Questions
Bracket Racing Questions
I'd like to start bracket racing next year, but am finding it hard to find info on it. As is what class I would be in, what the rules are, and all the other good stuff.
Also I'd like to be in the 13s for it, right now at a 14.51 @ 98.2 MPH, so How can I drop that .52 I need to break into the 13's?
I know M6 isnt the best for concistancy, but its what I got and I have been consistant so far (very consistanly run a 14.5x)
PS, my track is IHRA

Your car will run in ET brackets. Under the NHRA rules, your ET will make it a Sportsman class. After looking at BudPark's web site, it looks like they've adopted the IHRA classes of Electronics and No Electronics. That would put you in No Electronics class since you won't be using a delay box or throttle stop.
There are many web pages explaining how to bracket race including IHRA.com and NHRA.com. Rules are very simple. Your car is slow enough that as long as it's considered safe, you'll only need very basic stuff to pass a tech inspection. I'm pretty sure Edmonton requires a helmet at all speeds so that's about all you're going to need to buy. Go to a local motorcycle shop and buy an open face Snell M2000 helmet. They're usually around $100.

Calgary is also going IHRA next year.

My friend, Mike Beard, has a very good site for the novice racer.

I also suggest calling the tack and getting your hand on one of their rulebooks.
My home track, http://www.newenglanddragway.com has an on line racer handbook here: http://www.newenglanddragway.com/tra...ok/index.shtml
But your track may have some discrepancies on "local" rules.
