Yesterday, I take the car to the track and my time at the 1/4 mile was really bad.. ŋ15.8 sec 1/4 mile? .

Is this normal? the day was hot as hell (100°f) I know 3rd gen is too heavy, but 15.8????

I try some Ice over the intake, even take off the left head ligths for fresh air, but 15.8????

any of you guys with Lt1 3rd gens,?

 

There is a guy on our board www.kyfbodies.org that has an LT1 in his 3rd gen and if I am not mistaken he was running mid to low 13s if not 12s with his motor. He has N20 on it too and was running low 12s and high 11s.

 

No thats not right you have a tuning problem somewhere. Because the stock TPI 305s in a 3rd gen will do better than a 15.8

 

Yeah a 15.80?? An LT1 thirdgen should run just as well as an lt1 fourth gen. Same weight, same rear suspension, same transmissions, gear ratios, etc...

Figure about 13.80-14.20 all stock. 100 mph
Maybe mid low 13's with a lot of bolt on performance parts...103-106 mph roughly.

I would hook up a scanner or LT1 Edit and see what's happening overall.

yes a 305 tpi thirdgen runs aout mid 15's at they make 195-215 hp... Yours should make about 260-290 and ET/MPH accordingly.

What mph did you get at the track in the 1/4 mile? That's a better indication of power than ET. I've seen 12 second capeable cars run 15's since the driver was not up to par with the car. I wish you luck man.
