Banned From Jr Drag racing

yea im only 16 i've been jr drag racing since i was 10, and this season, my second to last season we got a new car a new motor and everything, Brand new 2004 chassis and the new motor. For you not familiar with this type of racing, the engine is a 5 hp briggs block bored out and everything. well this motor is the best of the best packing a piston that's almost 4inches, and let's just say that the word "fast" dont explain it. But anyways the IHRA allows up to run 7.90 in the 1/8 mile, and well i turned a 7.62 and that time came out of nowhere because it was only our 4th weekend in the car. So needless to say the IHRA no longer welcomes me and the crew

The rules are there for a reason. If you want to race, slow your car down. You knew the rule before you ran the car. What was your mph?

Well I know all about the rules but what doesnt make sense is that for all the runs prior to this i was consistantly running 8.0's and then out of no where i run a 7.62 at 83 mph, and also the e.t. and the mph dont really correspond

I don't know much about the IHRA - I race at NHRA sanctioned tracks. If a car runs quicker than 11.99 w/out a roll bar, they tell them to come back when they meet the rules. If they completely banned you, they're out of line. If they banned you until your car is running 7.90's or more, they are 100 percent in line.

Again, rules are rules. You broke them.

Your car is CAPABLE of running 7.6's, so thats why they banned you. No matter what your best is, they know your car is faster then they allow and you are a hazard to the track and yourself if you run faster then that. Rules are rules.

Feel sorry for the convertable guys too. If they run faster then 13.99 at the track they get kicked out till they get I think its at least a 4 point roll cage...

The rules are changing next year.
I think it's 10.99 for the hard top roll bar and 12.49 for the convertible roll bar. I don't think it's a cage for convertibles though, I think it's just a bar until whatever time (I suck at remembering the rules). Anyway, here are some pictures of a roll bar Rick just did for a local guy.

Yeah, that damn IHRA (and NHRA), standardizing rules on tracks across the country and allowing organized drag racing competition at a national level...

My cousin is one of the top JR dragster racers in the country. Last name is Gutzman, maybe you've heard of him

His car is insanely fast too. He has several cars and they only allow the fast one in the outlaw class.

I guess if your into compeition and bracket racing. Here, the track is locally owned and you can run a piece of **** if you want as long as it don't leak oil. Thats really the only rule, don't leak anything and turn your hazards on. No safety crap. Its your life, you take the risk. Its much more fun.

You are 16. Time to move into a car. The Jr. program is not designed for people running 7.60's... That is pretty quick in the 1/8 mile. A lot of guys here are only running 8's in their cars. You track took their position to retain the integrity of the Jr. class. Perhaps a leaf blew through the lights or something but you are running pretty quick anyway. Probably time to move up.
