ASR on or off

With an automatic transmission car with the ASR option should you race it with the ASR on or off? Thanks

You must have the ASR "off" at the drag strip to achieve any degree of performance!

I forgot to turn it off once, before I had it permanently disabled, and I sat there doing a burnout at 1200 rpms with the pedal floored for about three seconds before I realized the problem. Everyone thought it was pretty funny except possibly me.

Thanks we'll know better next time.We turned a 13.25 @ 105MPH with it ON. Our mods are in the signature. What do you think we could run with the ASR off?

Ok thanks ,we hope to get to one of the local strips next week. Any launch ideas or techniques we should try? With an automatic do we want to let it shift through 3 gears or 4 gears?

What stall?

What stall speed is your converter? The car should not get into 4th gear. If it's a regular shift pattern just put it in drive and let the trans shift. You can try leaving the line off idle the first run and then try running the idle up to about 1800 on the second run. If you have a stock converter you may only be able to idle it up to about 1500. You should not have to roll onto the throttle but instead mash it to the floor on the third yellow.

Thanks, it's a stock coverter.......So basically put the car in "D" not "D" with the square around it so it only shifts through 3 gears and then try brake torquing or not. (Suppose that's why it's called test and tune)We did have a PCM tune done on the car with the shift points maxed out.Bottom line is we just want to be faster than 13 seconds

The ASR will pull timing like crazy when the tires slip. If he's making that kind of rwhp and can run 1.8x 60's he should be around 12.1x.

Well you learn something new every day. I never knew it actually pulled timing. This would make a great deal of sense.
