Post Any benefit with 4.30 gears in a LT1?

A few friends of mine with LS1s are running them (and one nutcase 4.71s in his nine inch) succesfully in their LS1s... Is it too much gear for a LT1 with a slightly lower power band.

Powerband is all relative to Modifications. Heads/Compression/Cam/etc will dictate.

To the question..... Use as much gear as you can. This boils down to Drag Strip MPH/RPM limited in MY book. Also traction and Fuel economy are factors for some.

My Z28 has 4.30s currently that we'll be trying out (Limited Street Use, Solid Roller Motor, TH400). I plan to put a set of 4.56 or 4.88ss in the Hawk one of these days (M6, don't need the Highway economy, and I just wanna see if we can make 4th as traction limited as 3rd is right now. The car sees little to no track time, so MPH/RPM limits are of no consequence )

To each his own.
