6spd launching "tips & tricks) needed

Ok I need some old salty dogs to give me some pointers on 6spd launching? Details are what I'm looking for. With my mods and tires I launch at about 3,000 rpm with the clutch just a hair away from engaging but not touching at the stage lights. I do not try and do the brake gas pedal combination with my left foot. I'm looking for the correct method of dragging with a 6spd. Thanks for any pointers.

First of all heat them Nittos up real good. It has been known to take the Nittos a little longer to heat up. When you come out of your burnout let the tires roll out of the burnout dont just stop. This is a good way to see how well the track is going to hook and if you did your burnout long enough. When you roll out your tires should hook and jerk you forward before you get to the staging lights. Do not do any dry hops just roll to the staging lights and get ready to go. You can try 3000 rpm but I can almost guarantee you will bog off the line if you get your tires good and sticky. Your hardest part in my mind will be if you can get the stock clutch not to slip. If your clutch doesnt slip and you want to just dump it out of the hole I would suggest somewhere in the 3500 maybe a little less. Some guys have good luck with the 3000 rpm launch and slipping the clutch themselves with the pedal but I have never had luck and it always just wears my clutch out. I myself had a Mcleod performance clutch and was even going with the 4000 rpm launch and the car was bogging out of the hole. That is how well them Nittos hook when you get them good and hot. My rpm might be a little lower when I actually launch cause I let it drop off a little bit before mashing the gas off the line. It will be for sure trial and error to find the fine line between bogging and spinning and putting your clutch up in smoke. Good luck to you and let us know how you do.

Thanks Glenn for the response I'll work on that. My other detail is the "footwork" while at the staging lights. I mean once your staged are you off the brake and just barely off the clutch and throttling your RPM with the gas pedal? That's what I'm doing and not sure that's right? Thanks
