Boom! Just put a set of 4.10's in the rear to see if this is the gear I needed.
Got two passes on it and on the third it went out. Shredded about 8-10 teeths on the ring gear.

The 12-Bolt (Moser) is on the way (with 4.11's) should have it next week.

I had 3.73's in it and no problems for almost 2 years, I bracket race every weekend.

Damn and I was going to try that before I got a 12 bolt to see if my combo liked the 4.10s I've been running 3.42s for 3 years now also with no probs.

I did manage to log one of my passes and with the size of tire that I have 28" Hoosier Slicks that this combo was going to work good for me. I was trapping about 6300 through the traps.

With the 3.73's and 26" Slicks is about the same with the 4.10's and 28" slicks as for trapping approx the same RPM.

Ken I've been running 4.10's for quite a while now and no problems. Now your making a little more power than me but I bracket race my car too. Maybe everyother week. Sounds like the 4.10 gear is right about where you need it, and I know I need to rebuild the 12 bolt sitting on my garage floor My car works well with the 4.10 and a 27" tire. Traps at 6100 @ 112mph

4.10's work great even for my relatively stock car!

Sorry to hear yours broke though.

About the only good thing about going to the 12-Bolt is the assurance that when we go out of town racing that don't have to worry about the 10-Bolt.

Chances are the ring gear had a bad spot/teeth in it. There was one tooth that did not look right where it broke at. The other teeth you could tell that it had a clean break in it. The pinion looked fine other than the missed up teeth due to the ring gear.

I should have taken pictures of it. I still have it I might just do that.

Bummer. I broke 2 sets of 4.10s in my '97 on street tires. The 3.73s help up to 100+ passes on ET streets.

What did you run on the 2 passes?

Re: 4.10's & Auto equals...
The first pass was a crappy 12.20's @ 109 everything was cold.
The second pass was 11.80's@113mph, the 60's was in the mid 1.6's.
The third pass, well, all they got on the time for that one and it was the 60' time. DA was in the 3000' range.

It could also be the installer too, not shimmed right. Nothing wrong with the 10bolt either, Im going 10.40s and close to breaking into the .30s(60ft)
