I have been trapping low due to keeping my exhaust corked up to try and keep the car above the 12.00 Dial cutoff for ET Street at our local track. It paid off this last season ( http://www.newenglanddragway.com )

Next season the exhaust will be opened up.

You guys have some very quick cars for the level of modification.

New England Dragway is only a few hundred feet above sea level.

I still think it's either funny or just insane. Been racing fbodies since '92, and have yet to click off anything better than a 1.92 on GSC's or any other regular radial tire. In fact, have mustered a best 60' of 1.92 with BFG Drag Radials on a 3.42-geared '95Z28. Now I can see where track prep can play an integral role here, but being on several different tracks, ie: Memphis Motorsports Park, Carlsbad Raceway in SoCal, Gateway Int'l in St. Louis, E-Town NJ, I just haven't been able to hook up anywhere near that, or even in the same ballpark as a 1.6-1.8 anything. Maybe with the line lock I can change that, but I still doubt I see that big of improvement.

Mikie, Now that's good driving, it's totally believable when you got all things going right for you. I run Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro's and cut 1.61 sixty foots all the time and got a best of 1.585 last week. Now they are not a radial tire but there not slicks either, nice tread pattern and I drive on them to and from the track. Your Cool bro!

Thanks guys,

Update:

Well recently I lowered the car 1.75 inches and thought that it wouldnt bother my weight transfer that bad,boy was I wrong.
I have not been to the track in a few weeks ,but the last time I went I could only muster a 2.00 60' spinning madly through the trac bite.I did however manage to get a new mph of 94.5 ,but the best et was a 8.00 which sucks.Well I guess nows a good time to invest in the drag launch suspension.

Talk to you later.

I will have to give you some props on that... I have a couple of friends that have LS1 cars that have 3200 converters, 3:23 gears and a dry kit with a 52 pill. Launching on the bottle off the line with Hoosier quick Time Pro's (total hook up no spinning at all) and they only get low 1.7 sometimes high 1.6 60' times. So for you to get 1.6 with the stock stall converter, street tires, and regular radial tires is somewhat amazing. Of course there is all sorts of weird stuff that happens here also seeing as how most of the fastest LS1's in the country are from the DFW area But back to the subject... I do have another friend with a full bolt on car, 3:23 gears, Vig 3600 converter, 100 shot (so he says looks more like a 150 shot), and ET Streets and he gets 1.50 60' times launching on the bottle.

The best 60' I ever got on street tires (firehawk ss20's) was 1.73 with a bone stock suspension. Good track prep.

When I was at Rockingham last year I saw a red supercharged 2001 Viper GTS run a 10.83 with the factory tires. He ran three 10sec runs and one low 11 sec run, and his best 60 ft was a 1.87. He had the car dynoed and it made 700+rwhp, it was awesome. I can believe a 1.6 60ft with 2.73 gears and gas. Mad props on the times man. With my 4.10s and radials I can only get 2.29-2.5 60fts, with the ET Drags I get 1.55-1.65 usually on na runs.
