28" tire, pinion angle, and adj LCA's. Q's inside.

Hey guys,

I just got 28" tires put on some 15x8 Telstars, and I've got to shuffle things around to get them to fit better.

When I got my gears in, they adjusted my BMR adjustable LCA's to set the correct pinion angle. I also have LCA relocation brackets.

So I get my 28" tall tires mounted, fit them up, and toward the front of the car, I've got about 2 milimeters of clearance between the tire and the front of the wheel well, and about 3 inches toward the back.

My question is, with my 28" tall tires, would that change my pinion angle just by going from 26" tall to 28" tall tires?

I'm guessing if I adjusted the LCA's and moved the rear end back about an inch, that'd change my pinion angle?

What should I do? Should I keep them where they are, and clearance the body? Or move the rear end back by the LCA's?

Thanks!

You're going to need to center the tire in the wheel well, otherwise when the tire grows (which it will at higher speeds) it's going to hit the body/wheel well. Do you ahve an adjustable torque arm? If not, I would get one.. Then you adjust thte tire in the wheel well with the adjustable LCAs and then adjust the pinion angle with the torque arm..

Make sure you've got plenty of room for those 28s Todd. Tire rub @ 120 sucks.

Yup, its gonna be like that one song... "Hammer Time!" for my inner wheel well. It doesn't look like its gonna rub on the back due to the backspacing. I could be wrong, and I'll hammer anyway.

You'd be surprised. I thought my big Nittos would fit..until I tried to free spin the rear wheels....no clearance whatsoever. My friends Mr Air Hammer and Dr. Cut-off Wheel took care of the bumpstop though.

The rear urethane is cake to cut. Get a Dremel or a die grinder and use a steel cutoff wheel. Cuts through it like butta.
