2003 Goals?

Spring is in the air. For the second day in a row we are above 40 degrees. The itch needs to be scratched. It will still be toward the end of April before us Northern folks have a track to race on but I can at least see the car from under the snowbank.

What are your goals for this coming season?

I'm just hoping to race. As always my goal is to win the championship at my local track and go to the bracket finals and hopefully win that event too, but realistically I am still in search of a sponsor, starting a new business (similiar field), and my wife has major time committments with Rotary so I will miss a few races this season. Hopefully I will still qualify for the bracket finals. I have been each year I have raced but competition is tight and missing events doesn't help.

What about everyone else?

I am hoping for 10's on the motor and 9's on the spray. I would also like to drive the car home from the track. Last year every time I brought it to the track it came home on a trailer. Hopefully the changes I have made this winter will solve that.

If that actuially happens, who knows, maybe I will actuially rack up some points this year

I want 10.8 out of the twin on spray (high 6-something in the 1/8th). I want 12.5s out of my daily driver while looking and sounding 100% stock.

I also want to go rounds this year in my daily driver and perhaps take home a little $$$.

If I just get to race at least once a month...I can run a couple tenths slower...

Last year we made it to the track about 3 times.

Nines, in an emissions legal, fully equipped, 4,000+lb street car!

Last year I was in the mid 10's (10.66) and this years combo includes a bigger blower, bigger cam, and better heads along with the TH400.

I am so psyched

Points start on March 30. I already know that I'll miss 3 out of the 24 races. Slim to none in makeing it to the division race.

2003 Goals.

1. Win a Street race.
2. Finish top 10 in points.
3. Be competitive in every round
4. Preserve the car (break free year)
5. Get better every time out.

I want to see what I can get out of the little P600 this year. It went 12.4 last year w/ a stock motor and converter. This year, it's a TH400 w/ a brake, 383, some crazy heads and a good blower cam, not to mention a little more boost. I was told mid/low-10s is the fastest for a P600 in a 4th gen...I want to beat that by any means necessary.

I'd also like to dig out of the debt I've bought myself into as well. lol

TNTHUB, are we the only 2 on the board who bracket race? Seems like our goals are to win, everybody else is to go faster.

There are a few others but since the site is an enthusiast site as opposed to a drag racing site, mostly people want to go fast with some sort of handicap (street legal, quiet, look good, 800 pounds of stereo, cut 1.4 sixty foot times on 20" rims)...

There is a site for guys like us bit it isn't overly active called http://www.sportsmanracing.com
And there is also http://www.northeastdragracing.com

Yea, I like to win races. Heck I'm not going to win any track meets, baseball games, or football games at my age. My best year was 1999 when I went to 14 finals in 22 events and won ten of them. I like to think I can repeat that type of season but stuff like redlights, broken parts, and breakouts keep getting in the way.

I plan to add a torque converter and sticky tires. Then I will work on the suspension until I can click off high 12. I want to run in the 12's consistently...

With my camaro, i don't care what i get if i race it. It's stock. But with my dragster, with the new 565 and parts i am hoping and expecting to be somewhere in the high 7's pushing 175+ mph. Last year I was 8.20's with my 496, so i think i can do it.

Well Ted, since you asked, lol.
Better 60's are expected, go more rounds, do couple stock events, among other things. And of course, have fun each week.
Remember; a good day at wok will always lose to any day at the track!

My goal for this year is low 12's with bolt ons. Last year i ran a best of 13.3@ 103mph with a cut out and cai. I've added hooker long tubes, 3,200 stall, et streets, and weight reduction this winter. So i'm hoping for a mid-high 12 with these mods. 1.6rr's are going in next.

By the way, i do bracket race everyonce in awhile .

That's me too. I'm confident about low 9's, but high 8's will be a stretch

We completely re-did the suspension and dropped a bunch of weight. (3650 to hopefully 3300#). It really should 60' a 1.30, and run a 5.8X @ 118 or so.. Time will tell Last year was somewhere around 6.25 @ 116 with a 1.6 60' and "issues".

Oh, another goal is to complete the Hot Rod Power tour and drive it home... True Street car.

Good luck everyone~
