You guys are great....thanks for the confidence. Should I get my 4.10's installed after I get the suspension mods....or just stay with the stock gears? I want a madz28 tune and need him to tweek the speedo for me if I swap them out.

Practice it is ---

ps. I just got a set of Vette' Sawblades to throw on some DR's for the track....sounds fun!!!

If it were me, I would want to practice first.. A LOT so you know you really know your car on the track. Then when you're pretty confident that your near your best driving times, do some suspension mods. Then you can actually see what your mod's net you in terms of performance

If you are having traction problems put in more gas before you go to the track and leave the spare in. Your car should have much more in it.

"96' z28 LE2 heads/cam stroker, 6spd, 125 shot of Zex"

You diffenently have alot more left in her. If I was you I would get some stickier tires. From all the mods I made last year to my vehicle drags radials showed the biggest improvement at the track.

For 300 dollars why not if your going to take that nice car to the track?

Sorry guys , my current list of mods are in the first post I made. Those are the parts I am waiting to install, I want to be able to "master" this 325hp car before I jump to the 475-600hp setup I purchased, lol.

I just got a torque arm, lca's, and relocation bracket installed the other day. Hopefully this will get me into the 13's. I have good year 315/17's on my zr1's ... getting 9.5" wide vette' sawblades TODAY in the mail for some DR's ---

I prefer MT DR's as do the vast majority of ppl here. If they are going to be track only tires (like I do with mine) then they are the only way to go IMO. You can make them last for a good bit, and when you add power you will have more then enough traction to support it. I can't wait till you run with them, I predict some amazing differences in your times.

The best mods I think are DR's, stall and gears. I also would use a 3.73 as opposed to a 4:10 cause with the stock cam you will start to run out of gear. The 3.73s are great for our A4s

You got some LCAs, and Relocation brackets huh? Now your in the same boat as me cause we now have incorrent pinion angle. You need an adjustable torque arm to correct your pinion angle to -2 to 0 degrees. Mine is probably +6 now with the Pro Kit I also have installed. Tell you what it never ends....

That torque arm I had installed is adjustable , but I dont think the mechanic checked it correctly....it was his first time installing one of these, lol. Thanks for the heads up ... I need to get it checked.

The idiot I bought the car from says I have 3.73's but I cant tell by the little bit of change in rpm's from the 3.42's ... and I have been too lazy to mark my driveline and get under the car to spin it around. I will wait for the 4.10's when I get the le2 stuff installed I think.

Can I do BFG's in the front , and MT's in the rear on my Syclone , or is it only safe to run the same style drag radial all the way around I wonder? ---

What's your cruising RPM in 6th at 60mph?

If you want to specify another gear and speed, fine -- just give me some numbers and I'll figure it out. It's easy to calculate final drive ratio given vehicle speed, RPM, and trans ratio.

Were you doing burnouts before your runs? You shouldn't do a burnout on street tires unless the tires are dirty, in which case just a very quick spin to clean them off is all you need. Absolutely no smokey burnouts on street tires!

Yeah it is a waist of tread to burnout a street tire. I know people do it, but the tread compound doesnt benifit from heat on normal street tires.

Look and see if your rear tires are centered in the wheel well. If they are sitting more toward the rear of the well chances are your pinion angle is off, and needs to be adjusted. 1blk93z is a member here and he just set his not that long ago. He said its pretty easy to do, I would shoot him a PM and ask him about it. His name is Erik.

I have 3.42s in right now, and have a set of 3.73 in the shed waiting to go in. I had to replace my gears so I figured why not just get 3.73s. 4:10 will definately get you moving, but without running a little higher in the RMP range people tend to start to run out of gear. I dont know the specifics of your car now so I could say for sure, but 3:73s work great with a stock cam, and 6K shifts, and wont have you pulling 3500RPM (<--fictious example number, read as "to high for comfortable cruising speed") on the highway.

You can run BFGs up front, but you dont need to. Drag radials are not going to benifit your front tires at all. So basically you would be running a sticky tire that wears out quickly for no reason. I would just get some decent street tires to run up front.
