Which 15" wheels?

I need to get more traction and am planning on going to a 28" tire. So I will need a set of 15" wheels for my 4th gen. Any suggestions with respect to wheel choice? People have talked about a certain brand/model which will fit with minimal grinding of the rear calipers. I did a search, but couldn't find reference to them.

Also: suggestions for wheels/tires up front? What size spacer will I need to run 15" skinnies with my big brakes? Any sources you can suggest?

Any help/opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am running 15" Cragar Superlite II's. I called Cragar and they matched up my wheels for me. One of their engineers has a TA and had already fit these on it...

Dang, that was quick . What width and backspacing are your wheels?

This board rocks .

Thank you very much!

Rich: If you're looking for a track only wheel, check out those Bogart wheels. Link:

You might be able to squeeze a mph or two out of the car just by going to an extremely light wheel. Bonus!

Hey Rich...you may be pretty limited with front wheels now that you are doing the C5 conversion....I am doing that brake conversion myself and not sure how feasable it is going to be with skinnies.....it would need a special spacer and I dont know if that is going to work real well. It would be a little odd to see skinnies sticking out of the front wheelwells like dubs LOL

Rich, I have the weld draglites and I like them. They're fairly inexpensive and very light. I have 15x8's with 5.5bs. Last year I ran 28x11.5x15's but it seemed like I needed more tire. I would get 15x10's. Only draw back was I had to grind the caliper fins for mine. I know some guys don't. Maybe weld changed the wheels somehow.

Dave: thanks for the info. What tire would you suggest to try on the 10" rim?

What is the backspacing needed to put a 15x10 rim on a 99 t/a? 7.5? How much grinding is involved?

Thumbs up

I just installed the Weld 15X8 with 5.5 BS Draglites and had to do no grinding at all on the back. They fit and look great.

Later Jason

7.5 bs is even with the fender lip . 6.5 works as well but will put them out " a little " past the top of the fender . As far as grinding goes I'm not to sure on the 98-up rear calipers , but for the 97-older calipers you gotta say bye bye to the fins
