I noticed today that I could buy a 1970's chevelle or SS 12 bolt really cheap. What would have to be done to make them fit a 95? Is there a preferred year/model to get one out of?

Thanks.

Unless you change your rear suspension to eliminate the torque arm you'll need to find some way to attach the torque arm onto the 12 bolt's cast iron housing. After you're finished fabricating it would be cheaper to just buy an aftermarket bolt-in housing.

In addition to fabbing a mount for the torque-arm, you'll also need to narrow the axle-tubes and put new ends on thgem. Also, you'd have to weld on the spring and shock mounts. You'd need a new differential and axles as well.

After all that, unless you have mad fabrication skills yourself, you're looking at a cost that's probably in the ballpark with a whole new rear-end from Moser or one of the other places. And you'd have a used, cobbled together rear.
