1/8 mile to 1/4 mile times

I finally got to go to the track last week for the first time. What a great time. Only problem is that it was an 1/8 mile track, not a 1/4 mile. I was curious if you can estimate 1/4 mile times from what I ran on the 1/8. The best time I had was 8.774 seconds at 84.04 mph, or really close to that. Wife threw away time slips. I remember the best light I cut was .524. I was happy with that. Most were in the .660 range. Any help you can give would be great. Now time to start working on consistency at the track.

There is a "rule of thumb" that works surprisingly well except for very fast or very slow cars. Multiple the 1/8m time by by 1.57 to estimate your 1/4m time. So, your 1/8m ET of 8.774 would predict a 1/4m ET of ~13.78.

thanks man. At least that gives me a rough idea. I have a long way to go to get to a decent time.

I would think the other big factor would be your 60' time. If you were getting really poor launches (i.e. 2+ second) your 1/8 mile times would really suffer, yet you could really come on strong during the second half of the 1/4 miles track.
