Re: 1/4 times

when my car runs 2.0 60' times it runs 8.60s@83-84. if you dont have a high stall torque converter, the big drop in rpm from 2nd to 3rd gear is probably killing your mph. if you have a 2.73 gear thats not helping either.

Re: 1/4 times

4 runs of data is great. It's easier to break down a run. Take a run and break it down into sections. How long it takes to get the 60' mark. How long it take to go from the 60' to 1/8 mile etc. Having 1000' info is even better.

Run 1
60' : 2.141
60 - 660 : 7.031
660 - 1320 : 5.047
Total 14.219

Run 2
2.453
7.427
5.144
Total 15.024

Run 3
2.330
6.958
5.025
Total 14.313

Run 4
2.310
7.034
5.052
Total 14.396

Your best 60' time was the first run. After that you have a bunch of wheel spin. Run 2 is completely out to lunch on everything and should be thrown out as a garbage run.

Your best 60' to 1/8 mile time is run 3. Probably has to do with when you shifted through the gears.

Your best 1/8 to 1/4 time is also run 3 but run 1 and 4 are not far off.

As for your MPH again throwing out run 2, run 1 had the best increase making 16.74 MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4 and the slowest is run 3 only making 15.47 MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4. That's roughly about right for your ET. At the most, you should be making closer to the low 17 mph between 1/8 and 1/4. Run 2 for some reason gained 19.42 mph because of the low mph at the 1/8 mile mark.

My 15 second truck gets 72-73 mph at the 1/8 and only 88-89 in the 1/4 which puts it in the 16 mph increase range.

As a comparison, my car does 110 mph at the 1/8 and 132 at the 1/4 with only an increase of 22 mph.

Getting some sticky tires will help lower your 60' times which will lower your ET but shouldn't affect your MPH much if any.

93Turbo, those times in your sig are impressive! How are you getting 84mph traps!?! I wish I was there.

Re: 1/4 times

its done 84 a couple times in good air. it makes 275rwhp, but i shift at 6K, it actually pics up ET and MPH when i shift higher. the 4.10s didnt help other then consistency in the 1/8 mile. but im not trying to break the rear end either. i havent run with the gears and suspension in the 1/4 mile yet.

Re: 1/4 times

Im surprised the 4.10s didnt help you out much, but then again lately Ive been hearing the gears dont help the LT1 our nearly as much as they do on the LS1. Im an auto, and I get the best times shifting at 6100rpm. Ive tried everything lower and higher. Ive got a 3000stall on the way, hope to have it in by the 4th of July. How do you like the drag radials...thats the next thing Ill need to get some good times...maybe 8.4s if Im lucky. what do you think? My best time is in sig, along with my crappy 60ft time

Re: 1/4 times

the drag radials are very iffy, i really had to ride the clutch with the 3.42s to get a good launch. its a little easier to control with the 4.10s. but the et streets are a lot more consistent. the last race i went to the 4.10s were in the car. i entered the bracket class and came in runner up. on an 8.60 dial in, i ran between 8.61 and 8.67 all night, including my practice runs. and the track was marginal at best.

my buddies a4 lt1 car went 8.20s with a PI 3K converter, 3.73s, nittos, suspension, mac headers, tuning, CAI and no weight reduction. i dont remember he mph, but he was running some high 1.7 60' times. my best 60' has been a 1.97, but i blew the 1-2 shift and went an 8.6 at 83. i could probably leave harder, but i really dont want to blow up the 10 bolt.

i woulda thought the 4.10s would pick me up to, but appearantly im a better driver on radials then i gave myself credit for. i mean, i drove my buddies stock 02 z06 to a 12.41@115 with a 2.0 60' and a 8.0@91 in the 1/8 on goodyears. i probably used up half the life in the clutch doing tho. when i was running radials on my car i was using a lot of the stock clutch to get it out of the hole too. it was a lot harder to drive consistently that way though.

Re: 1/4 times

I wish 8.20s.. the wife wants to know what I want for fathers day...Im thinking a cutout. You think that could give me a tenth? Ive heard conflicting results with it...some swear by it and others swear at it

Re: 1/4 times

ive never tried a cutout, but my buddies ls1 picked up a couple tenths in the 1/8 with one. im all about keeping my car quiet. even when i finish my 396 im gonna run my random tech cats to keep a low profile.

Re: 1/4 times

It would definitly be a track only thing..I like a quiet car too. There is a great discussion in lt1tech right now on cutouts...I want one now.
