wont idle for 20 min
ok well here it is. i was storing my car for the winter but my daily driver broke down. this winter i installed a delteq ign. system and i thought it was the problem but there is no problem with the ign i tested all the wires installed new plugs and everything is correct. Ok what happens is the car will idle like crap (like a huge vaccum leak) but after about 20 min it clears up and idles fine. above 3000 rpm loaded or not it is fine. if you have any ideas or need more info please let me know thanks.
Re: wont idle for 20 min
Setting codes, etc? Also Im not sure about the carburated years, but check your ignition parts, and any aftermarket parts. If you have aftermarket parts diconnect them and see if it clears up. Mine does that same thing but it is because i have my electronic spark timing disabled, and i imagine if you have an aftermarket ignition system chances are its not working....so your car thinks your electronic timing is disabled.
Re: wont idle for 20 min
i have more info i put tts datamaster on it and it says that im in fuel trim cell 16 at idle and when it idles ok after about 20 min it goes back to normal??? also there is no codes and it could be the ign its a delteq but other people seem to not have problems, plus there is a built in diag in the ign module that tells you if it is ok and it seems to be working fine. i also saw my pw and it was 4.15 maf 9.83 grams 850 rpm 99degrees intake air temp map 29.9 grams clsd loop let me know thanks
Re: wont idle for 20 min
sounds like your in the same boat with me. I'm not sure what could be wrong, did you run a scan on the computer to see what the datatables are putting out? any odd voltage fluctuations? Like mine I'm reasonably sure that my EST line to the distributer shorted out in the ECM so ill have to replace it.
Re: wont idle for 20 min
It sounds like you problyms persist when the car is running in open loop system then when it closes it straigtens out. Id hook a scanner back up check to see your voltages for ECT, MAF, MAP, and also the readings in measurments. Usually your ses light will be on with any of those problyms how ever it could also be burned out. Try turning the key to the run position WITH OUT starting it to see if your ses light even comes on then.
KOEO check your voltages and measurments then KOER check the same in Open Loop system Also KOER check the same in Closed Loop System
Good Luck
