Will VE Master work with modified BLM boundaries?

I'm running a 93 383 LT1 with 230/236 cam and I would like to use VE Master to tune the VE tables. I was wondering if you have modified the BLM rpm and MAP boundaries in the chip if the program will still work properly?

I'm thinking that since the program takes the current BLM values from a datalog and uses them to modify the VE values in the tables, if the blm boundaries are changed it will apply the VE table changes in the worng areas?

For example, in the stock .bin, blm cell 5 refers to 900-1200 rpm and 30-50 map readings, yet in my chip cell 5 refers to 1250-2000 rpm and 45-60 map readings. If VE Master sees an average cell 5 blm of 140 it will increase the VE values corresponding to the stock chip's map and rpm ranges and not my modified blm boundaries.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob A.

If you use the little scanner that comes with LT1 Edit, it will use the updated cell boundries. I don't know about any other scanners.

Thanks, but it's not the scanning software I'm woried about, it's the VE Master program itself. If my logged data says that BLM cell 5 is lean, then VE master is going to add fuel to the 900-1200 rpm areas in the VE tables, where as it really needs to be adding it to the 1250-2000 rpm areas due to my redefined BLM boundaries....

When I used the version for '94/'95s, it worked with my modified boundaries.

Rob, you misunderstood what I said:

Here's a revised version for you:
If you use the little scanner that comes with LT1 Edit with VE Master, VE Master will use the updated cell boundries. I don't know about any other scanners.

Ahh, I get it. Can I use that scanner without purchasing LT1 edit? I do all my tuning with datamaster and tunercat.

I should have mentioned... I did my scanning with Freescan, which worked with VEMaster. I believe Freescan works with '93s too, but you can doublecheck on their website. Do a search.

from the author:

VEMaster reads the blm boundaries from the pcm bin file. So if you've changed them, uploaded/burned the new program, then logged data with the new boundaries, it will work properly. It doesn't matter what logging software you use.

To reiterate, the procedure is change the blm boundaries, burn/upload the new program, log data with this new program, run VEMaster. Lather, rinse, repeat.

This applies to all platforms VEMaster supports (EE, DA2, DA3, 8D).

HTH,
Joe

Alright, so I've seen it both ways now... does VEmaster actually DO anything on the 94-95 obd1 lt1's???

Yeah, as long as the MAF is unplugged or you set the pcm to run in speed density mode via Tunercat or LT1-Edit.
