Will A/C not working give me a code?

My a/c compressor isn't coming on, and I don't have my cable with me right now, so I can't hook it up to the laptop. If I run tunercat, will it give me a trouble code and let me know what is wrong, or will I only be able to get a code if the SES light is on?

Only if SES light is on.

There are about 7 different SES Indicators for the A/C system.

Thanks for the reply. I got to scan the car this weekend with datamaster, and it gave me DTC# 61 "A/C Low Charge". I have no SES light though. I guess that this code means more freon needs added.

I also logged some driving around, and I'm getting a lot of knock. Up to 13.6 deg. on one occassion. If anyone would be willing to take a look at the log for me and possibly give me some insight as to what could be going on, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
