What's needed for lap top data logging?

I am in the process of figuring out how to get the data from my car so i can have it tuned. I found a cable for just under $100 http://motors.search.ebay.com/?from=...tle=ALDL+OBDI+ and i think i need a free program like LT1 edit. What else do i need and am i doing this right? I would love to be able to send a data log of my car to one of the tuners and then recieve a program that i can down load and be up and running without pulling the ecm and mailing off with the down time. What are you using and how easy is it to do?

There are a couple of vendors on here than can send you a program that you can load from your laptop into your car through the aldl cable. LT1 edit isnt free i dont think? Programs like datamaster which monitor the car and datalog are free i think though

I'm running TTS Datamaster, purchased from AKM cables, and an AKM USB-to-RS232-to-ALDL cable. IIRC the cable and software were about $90 each. It works great!
