What are the symptoms of a bad Ignition Control Module (stock)?

I have a 383 with a CC467 cam and the engine never ran right from the builder. I would like to check the ignition (stock ICM). How do I do that?

The symptoms are a rough idle and severe misfires above 2500 RPM. New MSD wires are on the car and a new Opti (MSD).

Hi, When I put my 383 in and drove it, every time it got hot it would start to miss fire and stall. I replaced the coil same thing, I replaced the module and everything is good.Thats my 2-cents, I would try that first.Ray

It wouldn't hurt to see if there are any trouble codes.

Autozone can test the ICM.
