What Software Package Should A Novice Tuner Buy?

I am looking at picking a new editing software and want to know what is the easiest to learn and has the best support. I have a decent tune in the car now but hate to send it out and spend multiple times getting the tune correct. I figure if I can log some runs and see whatit is doing. Then I can get some help online getting the tune right.

Either that or I can spend $450 and have it tuned, then $50 a crack plus down time sending my computer back and forth to get the tune right. That can add up to more than a tuning sooftware package quickly.

As I said I know only basics about the car and tuning. I figure adding and subtracting tuning, plang with shift points and +/- fuel should get me there.

Any ideas of what product I should buy?

How much help can I get here online?

Thanks for the help!

Bill

I'm just now getting into messing around with my own tunes also. I use tunercat to tune and freescan to log. Both great programs. Tunercat has been pretty easy to use and figure stuff out, plus you get free updates and they're always quick to reply to emails. I'd recommend 'em.

Well he has an LS1 so I think HP Tuners or EFI Live would be a better choice than TC for him.

Wow...totally missed that he has an LS1. You could still use the OBDII tunercat that is now licensed to JET though.

hptuners is probably the most user friendly program currently available for the ls1 crowd.
