I am about to buy a laptop for tunercat. What port does the computer need to have in order to hook up the AKM cable? Also, what hardware and speed should the laptop have (P2 or P3, mhz, ram, etc.)? Just want to make sure I do this right! Thanks!

you need one serial port, comm1. Any 120 or faster well work. You can get a 300mgz/96meg laptop off ebay cheap.

 

Got my chip from PCMforless in, i like it alot....took care of my codes and my problems and added a little HP and gooides while i was at it..$150 and no complaints.

For logging try to get something fast, however I did fine with a P120 for awhile, but you get more captures (to a point) with a faster laptop. I also used a P2-366 later on, which got me I think 2 more captures per second, more data = mo' betta.

Try to at least get a Pentium class laptop though.
