what diagnostic/scanner tool to get

what diag tool should I get for my car? I head autoxray is good along with actron

What kind of car do you have? OBDI? OBDII? Code reader or scan tool? Actron and Autoxray are both good.

For a hand held, Actron or Autoxray will be fine. Be sure to price shop, as the prices can vary, and be sure if you want a scan tool that's what you get, rather than a code reader.

OBD 1, id use Freescan , see the Freescan thread a few threads down. Its free, works great AND im in the process of updating it, which you all will get free, here.

TTS Datamaster is the best out there IMO. It does cost around $20 but if you know your way around the internet... anything is free.
