What can be read from OBD-II plug?

A work project has come up where it would be beneficial to be able to pull odometer readings through the OBD-II port. Is this possible? If so what do we need to get to be able to access this info? We already have the ability to pull vehicle speed and other sensor information that you would normally find in a code reader/Tech2 type device. But we're a bit stumped on the odometer reading.

Thanks.

dont think Odometer is stored in PCM. Its in the dash itself.

Yes, the odometer reading is stored in the cluster itself and you won't be able to access it via the communication port.
