Using Tunercat to adjust auto tranny

Anyone have some good information on this, because I'm an M6 guy and I don't know too much about adjusting A4 stuff. I'm pretty well versed now in all the other stuff, so this is the last thing I have to learn. It's pretty important if someone I know wants me to tune their A4, since I don't feel like being responsible for exploding their transmission. I've looked it over and I get some of it (adjusting where the tranny shifts vs TPS% vs MPH and the such), I'm more interested in the line pressure stuff. How to make it shift firmer and such, but info on everything would be useful to help me get a better understand of the A4 altogether.

Hi, jim@ccs here. What is the tranny in, and what are you trying to make it do? Generically, you would normally set the line pressure 10-15% higher, from around 35-40% throttle, so it still shifts smooth, granny style, and firmer on higher throttle pos. How that helps, there is bunch more, but that's the usual mod.

Thanks, that's a start. Right now I'm just getting into the auto stuff, I've pretty much learned everything else I need to know (not an expert or anything, but I've got a good understanding of how it all workings for OBD1 PCMs). But I have an M6, so I can play around with tranny tables and see what happens. Any info I can get will be useful.

You are quite welcome. By the graph, you can jam it up high, and make it ramp smoothly down to 30-35%. Keep an eye on the graph, and picture how you want the shift to be. From there, you can then edit the modifiers. Just shout if you have any more questions.
