Tuning for super Heavy shootout in Atl

Hey fellas, would it be possible for one of you Tuning pro's to help me get ready for drag day? I have tuning by Bryan H, but I now have TunerCat and TTS Datamaster. I logged some runs, but I think I am getting Burst Knock thats pulling timing at the beginning of WOT.

Any help appreciated.

If all you wanna do is keep the knock retard out then find the PE KR table in tunercat and put the value to "0" in that RPM range. OR you can find the burst/fast attack table and set the values to "0" in the same RPM range taht way the knock retard will just flash up for an instant instead of lingering for the entire run.

I can try that. Can you take a look at a log run of WOT through 1st and 2nd ?

It never made it.

try sending it to bradperkins@hotmail.com and see if that works. Hotmail tends to label everything I get as a virus though.

Re: Tuning for super Heavy shootout in Atl

I see your problem. Its a tip-in lean spike right before you reach PE mode. So the knock is real. You can sometimes resolve this by simply lowering the TPS % threshold to engage PE mode that way it takes LESS throttle before the PCM starts dumping in extra fuel. Its your call there because you dont want to cruise in PE mode which will happen if the threshold is too low. Another patch is to do like I suggested and zero out the fast attack and recovery rate tables ABOVE say 3500 RPM so the KR only flashes through the PCM instead of staying around the duration of the run.

Hope that helps at least a little.

The only way I know how is by adjusting the % TPS Threshold for WOT vs RPM(low cool). Its really not very popular b/c like I said you can run into problems like running in PE mode while you are cruising.

Re: Tuning for super Heavy shootout in Atl

I guess I should add that mine are set at 42% from 1600-2400 rpm as opposed to 60%. For you it would have cured the problem in 1 of your runs where I saw the spike occur at 50% but not the other which was around 35%.

Thats why I say maybe the better solution is to try and kill the KR with the recovery rate table so to allow the timing to come back right away. The O2s are showing a nice low 900 mv indicating a decent AFR so you wont run into any lean detonation issues after taht spike.

Re: Tuning for super Heavy shootout in Atl

That is the chart and the values under 44.9% I have at 42%. You can try changing it to see what happens. You also have to adjust how you drive the car if you want to stay out of that lean spot. So say if you are gonna get on it then try to go about 1/2 throttle at first if you just want to ease into it instead of snapping the throttle open 1/3 of the way to the floor.

But see what Bryan Herter would do. Hes the true pro when it comes to this stuff. I just dont see any other way around the lean spot without lowering the TPS threshold for WOT and making some small adjustments to how you drive.
