Question Tunercat Tutoring

I'm looking for some advice from all you tunercat gurus out there. After many hours of loading various different configurations I could use some coaching on tunercat.

I'm having difficulty figuring out how to adjust fuel trims and idle RPM. These are a couple questions I have off the top of my head.

Also it would be awesome if somebody wouldn't mind looking at a data run of mine to give me a little advice.

Thanks!!!

Re: Tunercat Tutoring

If you are really starting from the beginning, then check these two links:

Idle tuning

ECM Constants

Of course there is more, but this is a good place to start.

Question Re: Tunercat Tutoring

The two links were the same. Are they supposed to be?

Thanks for the help! The link gave me a much better idea of what all needs to be done. However, I'm just not sure which tables to look at to perform these tasks.

Specifically how do I set the idle RPM in tunercat? I think I can figure out more of what you spoke about in your post once I've got that done.

Thanks a million for your help!!!

Found some information on the idle and got that figured out. You say in your post though to get the IAC counts lower. I'm not sure how to do that. What settings do I tweek for this?

Thanks!

What's the easiest way to lean up my fuel? I'm trying to raise the injector constant. Will this help me out? I've played with probubly a zillion values and not had much luck. However, I'm still running the stock injectors.

Re: Tunercat Tutoring

Links are fixed, sorry about that.

There are no settings to tweak for the IAC. You need to adjust the minimum air gap setting with the throttle stop screw. It's the screw on the driver side of the throttle body that holds the throttle blades open at idle. There should be a ton of information to be found on this in a search.

Raising the injector constant will change your fueling I guess. It will make the pcm adjust the fuel trims back to where it is maintaining a 14.7:1 a/f ratio at part throttle.
Better to find out what injector constant to use based on your injector size and fuel pressure and just leave it.
As long as the blm's are adjusing your fueling and they are in a reasonable range (118-138) then I don't see any advantage in trying to get things perfect...unless you're really bored.

Re: Tunercat Tutoring

Thanks for your help! So in order to get the IAC counts down I have to play with the screw on the trottle body. OK. Sounds good.

Playing with the injector constant didn't do me any good what so ever. My BLM's kept falling to the minnium for all low RPM. This was 108. However, after dramatically dropping the MAF tables for the respective RPM it seemed to help quite a bit.

You must be the god with this stuff . Every post I've looked seems to have your advice. It's been a great help! Thanks!!
