TunerCat Help ... can't copy to 2nd PC!

I downloaded TunerCat from the website and bought the $EE definition file (as well as the TC program).

I registered the product and installed the definition file per the instructions in the e-mail from TC.

It worked fine on my main PC but when I copied it to CD and tried to load it onto the PC in my garage, it only copied the TC program, no definition files, not even the $42 one that comes with the program. Also, the "Window" tab is empty on both PCs. This is important because this determines where the tables are placed when they are opened (cascade, horizontally, vertically).

I kept trying to copy and install individual folders/files and finally got it to read my PCM a couple of times. It wouldn't save the file and I couldn't view the complete table because of the window arrangement problem above.

It seemed very unstable and I'm wouldn't consider using it to upload a program.

How do you guys transfer the program from PC to PC?

Thanks!

Just download another copy of the tuner software into the new pc. Then using your registration code register that copy in the new pc. Then copy the contents of the "tuner" file folder from the old pc and paste the files into the same file folder of the new pc. Mind you just copy the contents of the folder.

Thanks TJ

I don't have internet access to the one in the garage, but I assume you mean I can install a version from the CD and then register it prior to installing the "Tuner" folder.

I tried that also and I can't remember exactly what happened, but it didn't work. I think I'll try that again and pay attention this time.

One more thing I forgot to mention... I'm running Windows XP in the house and Windows 98 in the garage. Maybe that's the problem?

No that shouldn't be a problem. TC works well with either OS. Just install the software off your CD, TC will just extract itself from the ZIP files and install into its own directory. Then restart the PC, fire up TC then click on about, and then Register, then input your custom ID and the serial number. It should work fine after that.

Still won't work...
I loaded it as described and registered it. It still has no definition file and when I insert the $EE definition file into the "Tuner" folder, it won't install it.
The folder has no executable files. I can open the folder, but the files are just data. When I try to open the folder using TunerCat, it gives me a runtime error.
I have an e-mail in to Tech Support at TC, maybe they can help.

Problem solved!

TC tech support got back to me with the solution.
After loading and registering the TC program, the definition file must Unzipped to the "tuner" folder.
I had tried to copy it zipped and unzipped but didn't use the "unzip to" command. I had simply unzipped it and them placed it into the "tuner" folder. I wouldn't have thought there would have been a difference but it worked.
