Tunercat help

I've downloaded Tunercat to demo, and I need the $42 ECM Definition file to demo it. Anyone know where I can get one? I'm looking to tune my Hot-cammed 93 TA and my GF's 94 z28 and I'm trying out software.

Jason
TIA

It comes with the $42 definition file. But that is not the one you need for your car. For the 94, you need the $EE and you need a different one for the 93. The only way to get it iis to buy it. $20 from Tunercat. Well worth the money!!!! Don't forget to buy a cable.

That makes no sense at all to me. It's like there's always a catch to things--you get the demo program to try out for free but you have to pay for the $20 definition file. The only way you can actually try the tunercat program for free is if you have that gm van or pickup... it just takes away from the "free trial version," thats all...

ablackcamaro is along the lines of what I'm talking about. I need to get the $42 file to even demo tunercat. I know I need the $EE file to actually edit my car. I'm just looking to see what Tunercat is all about. I have the cable and access to a prom burner. I've been playing with LT1Edit and getting ready to program hers. I'll probably do that when we get back from Houston.

I dont see how you could demo a program if you don't have all the required files. I know its a matter of legality for them, but jeez.

Well, it was all a matter of understanding. Did you purchase the program or just download it to demo. the program does come with the $42 ECM Definition file, but I needed the $42 ECM Calibration file, which he emailed me.

I don't get it... I thought the $42 file wouldn't work for LT1 cars. Am I missing something? And for some reason I thought the cars with FLASH computer systems don't need calibration files, that you can turn the key on the ignition, download your computers info to the laptop, edit it, and then upload the new version to the cars computer... that's not how it works?

Cool What they mean about demo

I think when they say demo, they mean see what the program is capable of doing and what the user interfaces look like. If we could use the program for our cars for 30 days alot of people would just use it for 30 days and not pay for it. the cheap price is great, but the only way that they can offer it to use at such a low price is to sell a lot of copy's. Otherwise they would go out of bussiness and we wouldn't have any "Cheap" software to use. Although I like LT1 edit also, I can not afford it and I help my friends out by tuning there cars for them. Tunercat has a sweet deal- I don't think it can reallisticly get any better than that. Just my 2 cents!

I believe what Jason wanted was an actual computer file that he could use with the $42 definition file to see what all he could do and how the interface was.

The tunercat will do more than you'll ever be able to decipher or use. It IS the best value out there, It does give you the same tuning abilities as a prof tuner, and is dirt cheap. How'd you like to spend about $5-$10K on software-some have for less software. Tek the deal, and buy the tdf's you need for both cars. AKM cables has the cable you need for the 94 flash car, and the EE tdf does come with the programming and reading software. For the 93 "chip", you'll need gm memcals(specific to the 256 v-8 chip family) and uv eraser.
