Trouble codes & comp. questions

I have '83 z28 crossfire 5.0 305 v8 engine code s... I got a trouble code 22 (low tps voltage) i was wondering if should adjust it or just put in a new tps. Also, i'm getting code 44 & 45 which i was told was a bad o2 sensor but i have a new sensor in there. A while back, I put a 83 cavalier comp. in my camaro. I was told that it was compatable and would do fine but someone just recently told me the reason why i'm having trouble is becauce of the new comp... is this true?

If the part number of the computers is the same then you should be okay as long as you transfered the prom. The TPS likely needs replaced unless you screwed around with it lately. O2 sensors are a wearing item and the old single wire are cheap so put a new one in.

Re: Trouble codes & comp. questions

Would touching the prom with my bare hands damage it or the comp.? Thats what I think happened to my old comp., I had a high performance prom in it and I replaced it with the original prom (with my bare hands touching the teeth of the prom and some components on the comp... I didn't know better) I was told that i messed it up by doing that but I would be able to fix it by cleaning the teeth of the prom with alcohol. I wasn't too sure about that so I just bought the cavalier comp. and didn't mess with the prom this time. I kept the old comp. and both proms just in case there is still hope of reprogramming them... Also, are you saying that I need to change the wire connection to the o2 sensor? Thanks for the help cause I'm kinda confused right now but very eager and willing to learn.

Touching the pins shouldn't affect it but static electricty can. You should ground your self to avoid static discharge. Look carefully to make sure none of the pins got bent when installing the prom. The O2 sensor I was just refering to the non heated sensors being single wire and cheap so put a new one in they wear out anyways.
