Tried everything but wont shift at WOT!!!
Tried everything but wont shift at WOT!!!
Friends car ... '94 Z28...
Okay, all the car has is 3.42's, a cold air kit and a Borla Catback. DAMN THING DOESN'T SHIFT AT WOT!!! ... This only started happening after these mods were put in a couple months back and tuned using a Hypertech programmer for 3.42 gears. They thought it was the computer and put in a different PCM to see if it would work ... NOPE.
Tried lowering the shift points on the Hypertech program using tunercat but no luck. So we returned the tune back to stock using the Hypertech and then tuned the STOCK tune. It seems to be hitting a rev limiter at about 5000-5200 RPM although the rev limiter was set to 6200. Tried adjusting the WOT 1-2 shift points down to 36MPH (it was at 48MPH!). Starts breaking up at about 5300. Tried lowering the 1-2 shift thresholds to 5000RPM. It then starts breaking up at about 5000RPMs. Last resort was to lower the shift points to 25MPH at WOT and the damn thing STILL didn't shift and broke up at 5200RPM. ARGH!!! Tried using my tune (that works perfect with my '94 Z28 that has the same exact setup) but it didn't work either. So I returned it back to the way it was and called it a day for now.
Could it be the tranny? Could the solenoids be bad and can't handle the line pressures at WOT? It shifts perfect at part to about 80% Throttle. The only thing that makes me think it's not the tranny is the fact that the rev limiter was raised to 6200 and it broke up at 52-5300RPM. I'm stummped guys, pls. give me your input. Tell me I'm looking/changing at the wrong tables, tell me There's tables tunercat doesn't let me play with .. tell me something!!!

Re: Tried everything but wont shift at WOT!!!
the hypertech program was taken out and returned to stock, the problem still persists. Also, if it is an ignition problem why would the car break up at different RPM's when the shift points are adjusted and also, it should shift long before it starts breaking up too. (???)
