Is there a crash course I can take to learn Tunercat?
Having some issues with my car stumbling and borrowed a friends laptop with Tunercat and Freescan and have no clue how to work it. 'Bout the only think I can do is click on the icon to open the program, after that it gets all hazy. Any easy "Tunercat for dummies" sites out there?
Re: Is there a crash course I can take to learn Tunercat?
Not really man. Read all the threads about it or learn as you go. Tunercat is worthless to you but freescan might tell you something. What you really need is datamaster so you can actually log runs. Freescan is like datamaster only you can save anything its reading out.
Re: Is there a crash course I can take to learn Tunercat?
Freescan is able to save your data as well, in Comma Seperated Value format(like excel). And Freescan is FREE whereas Datamaster is expensive if you want to use more than the trial version (20 runs). Tunercats is pretty simple, and if you want to know specifics you can just ask around. I personally have used it quite a bit, so if you would like answers to specific questions, feel free to PM me. As for diagnosing things, Tunercats will not help you as it is just for reading/editing, and programming your car. On Freescan, once you've started up the car, connected the computer, and started the Freescan program, hit the button that says something along the lines of establish communications (top left part of the control panel). Then hit the button in the lower left corner that says something along the lines of Log to CSV file. This will start reading the info the computer is sending, and saving it to a file in your documents folder on your computer.

If you're talking about the freescan files, just look for a CSV format file in your My Documents folder of your computer. You will need Microsoft Excel to view them. It will come up as a spreadsheet with A-AB columns filled in with all the sensor readouts and some PCM readouts.
If you're talking about Tunercats, it will save the file from your car's computer as a .bin file, and you can only view it with Tunercats. Once you open the file, just go to the tables menu at the top, and pick the table you would like to view/edit. To edit simply right click on the box you want to edit OR you can use the + and - keys to increment and decrement the value you want.

just down load datamaster and use the 20 free runs and scan it and post it up so people can download it and look at it. its much better than freescan. or just email to someone and let them look at it.
