Stupid Question. Quick and straight the point.

Why did GM ever come up with the skip shift? Is it supposed to be for safety? I dont think shifting from first to 4th is safe anyways? Wanna know why they did this.

It was used to ensure good fuel economy and compliance with federal fuel economy standards.

I believe they started it in 1989 to pass EPA fuel milage standards. CAGS appeared on the ZF 6-speed Vettes first.

In 93 this did not exist. What is not safe about going slow? If you dont like it, drive past 21 MPH in first is one way to escape it, or do the free resistor mod if you can't program it out.
