Question Stock M6 programming

Anybody have it? I'm doing a swap from an A4 and need to update my computer I read in a few threads that it's better to start with a stock programing than modifying the A4 programming... thanks in advance

info@velocidad-maxima.com

BTW, It's for an OBD1 car... (got OBD2 to OBD1 conversion on my 96)

Don't honestly know the specifics for OBD-I vs. -II, but I know for my car when I swapped, I needed the computer re-flashed (had it done at the GM stealership). I don't believe it's something that simple programming can fix .

Yes you do. The speedo (vehicle speed sensor) reads differently, and there are different parameters in the computer that actually ARE tuned/programmed different (such as, when you push in the clutch on the fly, the RPM's will drop like a stone if you still have the A4 tune). A couple other small things I can't think of off hand, but the programs are very specific for A4 vs. M6 .

yeah but if you have tunercats, its just a checkbox, no need for a fancy retune. the speedo will read the same because the rear end gear is the same. if you use a standard auto tune it should be off because itd be set for the wrong rear axle

I sent you the 94 m6 file I used when I converted my car. You do need to use a m6 file. There seem to be differences in the m6 and auto file that can't be changed with tunercats. Its just as easy to reflash with the m6 file since you will have to change the program anyway.

The biggest reason you have to use a different calibration file is because there are a few slight differences in the wiring. If you have an A4 car, pin B13 (BLACK connector) is for the transmission 3-2 control solenoid. If you have an M6 car, pin B13 is for the ship-shift solenoid. This property is part of the actual calibration image, and as was pointed out, cannot be changed by any of the tuning software packages. You'd probably also get a pile of trouble codes when the automatic transmission shift solenoids didn't respond to the PCM.
