Stock Computer: FI vs. Nitrous

Stock Computer: FI vs. Nitrous
After a 5 year F-body hiatus (and a couple years in an '03 Terminator LOL), I'm starting to put together an action plan to rebuild my 97 Z28. There are a lot of variables right now, and one is which course of power adder would be the most tuning friendly with the stock LT1 OBDII computer. Competent tuners for LT1s are getting rare, and those who are competent may be getting rusty with these old gals, so I want to make sure I choose the path of least resistance. My power goal is 600-700 RWHP, and I'm looking to do an LTCC or similar coil modification.
My 3 top options are direct port fogger (~250 shot), single turbo system or Procharger D1SC. The car will be a sunny day car, but since we have lots of sunny days in TX, I'll be expecting 5-7000 miles per year out of the car, so it needs to have at least reasonable manners. Thanks guys, and it's good to be back to the bowtie!

Re: Stock Computer: FI vs. Nitrous
When you run nitrous, you tune the PCM for optimum performance without the nitrous - straight motor. Then you add the extra fuel and retard the timing only when you spray. Fuel addition is typically controlled by jet selection (wet system) and timing is retarded using an external box, like an MSD Digital-6.
It is possible to run multiple tunes in aftermarket ECU systems, but that doesn't appear to be what you are looking at.

So the short answer is the fogger would be the easier tune. LOL. Thanks for the info. A little off the computer tuning topic, but can an opti with a good coil and ignition box handle the power levels I mentioned rather than going to LTCC?

Re: Stock Computer: FI vs. Nitrous
Probably.... but I spray a 300-shot on top of 500HP NA, and have been using an 8 LS1 coil setup for 11 years. Buddy of mine used the same setup for an 1,125HP Vortech blower setup on a 383ci 97 LT1. Those systems were installed before there was an LTCC setup, using an aftermarket ECU with an 8-channel ignition driver.

I've heard about your Motec setup. Funny whenever I hear that I think about the Eclipse on Fast and the Furious when they said it had "Motec Systems exhaust" I think is what they said. But I know your stuff is the real deal. I may try the opti with a Mallory Nitrous box and see how it does first since LTCC isn't too hard to install with the motor in the car. Thanks for your help, Fred.

The new MoTeC stuff is amazing - traction control, launch control, ground speed control, variable valve timing control, drive-by-wire.......
Mine is one of the older ones.
