speed density question

i got a good deal of info from searches but still have 2 questions.

1) whats all is involved in doing this from maf? other than programming. do you have to bypass any maf connectors?

2)heres a quote from jimmueller, it was in ls1 tech section....

You can remove the MAF and run speed density tuning (either running open loop full time or regular closed loop). If you want to put the MAF back on afterwards, you may need additional tuning to get your fuel trims back inline
how do i know if i want open or closed loop?

just from reading on options from a 85mm maf. i am thinking long term. i am not putting out no more than 420rwhp at this time, but have projects in the works (383 or 408 stroker w/n20 and turbo or procharger) so i think and have read the maf becomes a restriction then, especially with the 90/90 setup
