Soo i just killed my first PCM. Questions...

Well i had converted my car to OBDI about a year ago. I was using a old Toshiba to tune with Tuner Cats. Well its battery went to crap and wouldn't hold a charge any more.. Soo i decided i would bye this little burger. Acer Aspise One and bought the Keyspan USB to Serial adapter.

Well it works great of datalogging no problems. I did one Read on the PCM then one Program. Did some more data logging, came back made my changes and did another program. It got half way through and a blue screen pops up really fast and then the dam thing restarts! Soo whats the trick to get these adapters from doing that. Its was all set up right, driver and all. Don't think i missed anything. Soo i guess i just got struck with bad luck. I've read alot of people havent had any problems with these.. And now i'm afraid to Program with it again. I'll datalog all day with it. But programing has me scared now..

I really just needed to rant, but anyone got any pointers. Maybe i over looked something.

I stick to the FTDI based converters and those seem to work OK for me for programming as well as reading and logging.

I too, mourn the loss of the serial port.

keyspan adapter would not work for my obd1 tuning,, i had a akm serial cable and if you have a akm cable you can send it back to him along with $30 and he will send you a new usb cable, its all on akm's website
