shift vs mph and rpm

I have an auto with 3.42 gears. Never been a combo from the factory like that.
In your observations do formula's for matching RPM to shift points work well or is there too much lag or latency with converters and seleniod's reaction time.
Will estimates work well or do you end hitting the rev limiter or shifting early. Is it all trial and error?

Hi Keven,

When I switched from 2.73 to 3.73 I somehow came up with a conversion factor and applied it across the board to my shift tables. This worked fine. You should not have to worry at all about any other issues. I think I multiplied all my shift mph vs tps tables by .68 or .73 something like that. It changed a 51 or 52 mph shift point to about 36 mph.
