Setting up with Hpertech tuner
Setting up with Hpertech tuner
I have a '02 Z28 vert with ram air, k&n, lid, bellows and a flowmaster. Now the question, what rpm and shift speed should I set with my hypertech tuner. Oh yea 2.73 gears if that makes a diff.
Re: Setting up with Hpertech tuner
If you mean mph change for your automatic, I can tell you the affect of -6 mph (about 600 rpm) difference for 1-2 shift. The car transfered a lot of rubber to the asphalt at WOT. LT1s are champs at low rpm torque and shifting 600 rpm sooner makes the gear change more dramatic. Your LS1 makes even more torque but higher up in the RPM range.
Frank Cahall says the 4L60E line pressure begins to drop off after 5000 rpm. Shifting sooner at WOT will put your car closer to the max torque curve with a more definate jolt with the shift. I doubt it will give you a better ET but will be a load fun on dry, straight pavement if nothing breaks.
Regards
