Ses Light Question

Ses Light Question

hey guys just signed up on this forum hope someone can help me. I have a 94 z28 a4 that i just bought and the ses light is on. the cat was rattling so i cut it off. one question i have is are there not any o2s after the cat if not will that make the ses light come on? another thing is i hooked up a code reader turned on the key and the light went out,wont flash, and my fans came on. whats up with that? any info would be appreciated

The f-body's didn't get post cat O2 sensors until 96 {along with OBD2.}
I don't know about your code reader but I believe it's common for the fans to run during diagnostics. The light won't flash code #'s like earlier ECM's if that's what your asking? You shouln't need that flash thing anyway with a code reader should you, or am I missing something?

I suspect your "code reader" is something like the $30 Actron. If that's the case, it won't work on your 94. All that code reader does is short the pins in the ALDL connector..... something you can do yourself with a paperclip. But 1993 was the last year that would work for the LT1 computers. 94-95 you need a "real" OBD-I scanner to pull the codes.

There are no after-cat sensors on the 93-95 OBD-I's.
