SES light blinked at me a few times.

I put in the CCXE 230/236 cam and I started it up and the SES light blinked a few times before it just stayed on. Any help on this would be appreciated. Also the car makes a lot of engine noise as well as the engine vibrating a lot. I'm sure I need to adjust the rockers some more...I only went 1/4 passed zero lash. Is it necessary to tune the car with this camshaft and if so what should I use.

Usually a blinking SES is a misfire, and yes with a cam that big it would be a good idea to get a tune. Either dyno, or with LT1 edit.

Hmm that's strange, what would cause a misfire? I have new plugs and wires in the car. The wires/plugs have about 4 miles on them. What is a good obd-2 scanner to use for this?

Just go to autozone and they will read it for free (if you have one in your area) or any other parts store and get a generic OBD2 scanner.

Or if you have a laptop and want your own software get Autotap.

I have this same cam. It will vibrate alot and the light will flash and stay on. It is throwing a po300 code. radam misfire code. The computer is picking up a false missfire cause of the cam. It really is not missfiring. This cam is pretty big and I drove on stock programing for awhile now and just bought LT1edit. This cam need tuning, i suggest you get it professanally tuned. stock idle is a little to low for this cam also. May stall on you. hope this helps you. Do a search for misfire or po300 code you may get more info on it.

Thanks for the reply. The car runs pretty good though and idles at about 1000rpm. I didn't think it would be a misfire since it runs well. But if I listen to the exhuast I can hear slight thudding at a beat, of course there is the popping that often happens. I checked all the wires and plugs and they look fine except for one wire which pretty much touches the header. I thought I may have messed up making the wires since they were the "make your own OVC kit" from taylor. Also how can I tell if it is misfiring?

You really cant tell this is misfiring cause it is false pickup. The cam throw the sensor off. With tuning you can fix this problem. My car ran fine also, but that is what code it was storing. I'm almost postive it is po300 code. I hook my car up to a scanner and you still could not fined it misfiring. That is why i say it is false read.

I had mine verified as a false read. There were no misfire counts when my car was hooked up to a scanner. Not sure why it happens, tends to affect OBDII A4's more for some reason.
