Are SES codes stored after light goes out?
Are SES codes stored after light goes out?
If you get an SES light on..later it turns off by itself..is that last code stored. Didn't get a chance to scan it while it was on, so not sure what happened.
Long story below:
So here's the deal..been dealing with some slight stumbling/hesitation over the past few weeks. But it seems to come and go like night and day.
Few weeks back..got a code for multiple misfires. I changed plugs (was time any ways), check wires, opti..all looked fine. Car has a new coil about 2000 miles ago. Cleared code, but still had a slight stumble.
So changed out the crank position sensor. Car drove fine for a few days, but could feel the stumble come back...very slight...if you didn't drive the car..you wouldn't notice it.
So changed out the ICM..and it ran awesome for a week. Idled perfect..."on demand" acceleration...things were happy in Camaro Land.
Last Thursday: SES light came on...very slight stumble. Mechanic friend scanned again and same multiple misfires. Now thinking it's the MAF, so took that out and cleaned it ...CRC stuff. Clear code, but it didn't seem to fix the stumble.
Last Friday: On the way to work, car stumbled pretty badly and did not like sitting at redlight..never stalled but felt like it wanted to. SES light flashing...steady...flashing.. oh crap! Got to work..car sat for several hours. SES still on, but drive home didn't have the same stumbling...only slight again.
This Monday: Magically over the weekend, some Camaro gremlins hopped into the engine bay and removed the stumbling. Went to get some gas on the way to work...after filling up the tank...SES went off by itself. Car's been driving great for last 2 days...happy in Camaro Land again. Didn't do anything to the car except let it sit over the weekend undriven. Unsure why?
So back to my question...can I see what those SES codes were that turned off by themselves?
I'm still leaning towards the MAF since maybe in the process of replacing the coil and ICM...I had to remove the MAF..maybe it cleared up some gunk or something. For now, I'll see how long it drives well and if the SES comes back.
