Re: Security System

make sure EVERY wire is hooked up right and check all the grounds. You also should make sure that your keys resistor for antitheft is still at the right resistance and nothing is insulatin either side of it.

Re: Security System

clean your key with some alchohol. There might be some buildup on your key. If that dosn't work try using your spare, or if you dont have one its a perfect time to get a new key. If the new key dosnt work thou, then you know its a ground or something.

Re: Security System

i have three keys and they all do the same thing. however i think it has something to do with the keyless remote for the door locks. when i use it to lock the doors and unlock them, the security light usually comes on. when i lock the doors from the doorpanel, it doesnt do it, or at least not nearly as much. wierd??

Re: Security System

That shouldnt be related, I know with most cars, and I think ours is included. When you put the correct key in the ignition and turn it, it disables the alarm. I'll go check when I go to my car later, if the car dosnt turn on w/ the alarm on I'll post here. It sounds like your connections inside the mechanical ignition switch are bad. So they arent reading the proper resistance of your "chip", you might have to bypass the system entirely. I know shoebox has a how to on this, there are many threds like this one, seach for one w/ shoebox posing in it and im sure he has alot more suggestions. Or you can just jump right to bypassing it.
