security light??? (VATS)

my security light went on the other day and the next day the car would not start. so i checked the battery, alt. and starter, all were fine. I reinstalled everything and the car would not turn over. all the time, the security light still flashing. i have researched was to bypass the security system, but has anyone actually done this????

Re: security light??? (VATS)

ther is 2 ways you can do this,
1. have the vats programed out of your pcm

2. measure the resistance of the pellet in your key, go to radio shack and get an assortment of resisters and make a resister or a combination of resisters that is the same as your pellet in the key, then disconect the orange connector at the bottom of your steering column and wire in the resisters, i like to solder them in so the connection it good, then just start your vehicle

remember if you try starting your vehicle and the security light flashes you will have to wait 3 min for the vats system to reset

at the base of the steering column there will be a orange wire harness, cut it and leave the steering column end alone and strip back the orange covering on the body side of the harness and inside will be 2 small white wires, connect these to your resister(this makes the vats module think the correct key is always in the ignition)
