? on scanning a 95 OBDII/OBDI
? on scanning a 95 OBDII/OBDI
well i have a 95 with a OBDII connector but my hypertech will connect but cant scan it. I also have a laptop with LT1 edit for OBDII and some scan program but i know that the cable is locked to 2 vins(other than my 95) so i havent tried to scan it with that yet but since the cord is locked so i havent tried. I figure my car is a OBDI since im a sigle cat car an my scaneer wont read it but like i said its got the OBDII connector. what do i need to do to scan this?? any help is appreciated
Firs thing is first. You are right about your car being and OBD-1. Second thing is your hypertech wont scan your computer unless you have the power scan cartridge. Thirdly, if you do have the OBD-2 version of LT1 edit it wont do you any good obviously cause you have an OBD-1 pcm. Also you can't use your hypertech cable with your laptop to scan the pcm because you need an interface between the laptop and the pcm also I dont believe the hypertech uses a standard serial port connector on the end of it. Not sure its been a while since I had mine.
Check out www.akmcables.com and Andrew will get you just the cable you need and then do a serach for either datamaster or freescan. Both are free dataloggin programs which you can scan DTC's with.

well i agree that hyper tech definily wont work with my computer, but i actually have 2 other vehicles a a 96Z and 97TA that i have used LT1 edit on but obviously those are OBDII and i know the cable is locked since i dont have the pro version so i was thinken maybee i could by pass that or something but illl email that guy and find out.
