Scanner connection

When I try to hook up a scanner to my car under the dash it will not activate the scanner. It won't even turn it on. Has anyone ever had this problem. What are the thinks that I should check?

I have already shecked the fuses and that is it.

thanks
Josh

On my car the cigarette lighter/DLC is the same fuse. Since the fuses are OK I'd try connecting to another vehicle. What kind of scanner is it? It has an OBDII connector, right?

Actually the cigarette lighter fuse was bad but I didn't think that would have anything to do with it. I think it is an actron III scanner that was tried on both occasions. I will take it up to auto zone again and see if it works now that the fuse has been replaced
thanks alot

It'll probably work now, I wasn't sure if the LT1's were wired the same way. Hopefully you won't show any serious codes.

Yeah well it pulled up the code P0420 twice on the scanner and the code P1371.

Looks like from what I've heard I am going to have to replace the cats and the opti. I am hoping that it is just the o2's but the car just turned 111k miles.

Any advice from anyone would be appreciated.

I will go on ahead and replace the opti because I have a horrible hesitation with the car (I never know if it is going to stay running)

It should be ok to let the cats go until sniffer time right?

thanks
Josh
