Questions for TunerCat owners
I've been out of the LT1 scene for a while and have some tuning questions. My brother owns my old 93 Z28 and is wanting to cam his car. I am under the impression the TunerCat is one of the few tuning applications out there for the 93 cars.
Is this software fairly easy to pick up? Are there any other 93 owners on here that might be able to give tuning advice when the time comes? We really hate to have to rely on a tuning shop to mail order chips.

Tunercat will work for a 93 Z, you need the $DA3 file for tuning 93 Zs. Software is at www.tunercat.com. It'll be about $100 for the whole thing. However, you will also need an EPROM burner and eraser. There are a number of burners and erasers out there, burners go for anywhere from $150 to $3000. Erasers are about $40 to $70. Since 93s didn't come with the FLASH chips, it usually costs a little more to tune them. I'd pick up some extra EPROM chips (don't know the number), so you can keep your original EPROM so you can go back to stock by just swapping out the chip.
It is very easy to tune if you have everything.
The car is a speed density so it doesn't measure changes in air flow it looks them up in a table. So that table needs to be accurate. Joe Georger has written software to take Datamaster logging files and recalculate TunerCat .bin files for tuning.....works lots better than a dyno, but you need DataMaster, TC, Eprom burner, Eprom eraser, a 4$ part to fit the MEMCal into the Eprom burner. That totals about $500, so for most people it is more expensive than professional tuning.
If you have a computer and will buy DataMaster or can borrow it, I can burn a chip for you given your MEMCal (buy an extra one) after you send me your logging file.
It might take a couple of tries...(I am on Version 8 on my Zee and Version 9 of my YBod). But all will work, simply more logging means better VE Tables.
