Question for tuners, Hypertech + shift points.

I was wondering if I could use the Hypertech programmer I have laying around to experiment with the shift points at the track? The car has a dyno tune and shift points changed already. But I'd like to play around with the shift points for the last little perforamce gain. Can I do this? Thanks

I can't say for sure because I don't have one to try, but I'd be wary of trying that.

I haven't looked at HPP in a lot of years so maybe more is known about them now than what we knew when they first came out and we were also trying to learn LT1 Edit. There was some doubt whether HPP really stored your entire stock program or just applied your gear settings, etc. to their version of the stock program that was already in there. Then it either loaded it's stock program with modified settings or its modified tune program with modified settings that you choose, like shift points, etc.

I'd be worried that, if it really works this way, your dyno tune might get lost. If I'm mistaken and it really reads and stores your present program, then you should be OK.

Thanks, I'll leave well enough alone for now until I talk to Ion (Madwolf).
