Question on differences between manual and auto (stock tune files) for converted car
Question on differences between manual and auto (stock tune files) for converted car
I just did a swap on my car from an A4 over to an M6. Some very helpful people have sent me a stock file for which I can compare to my original file (I assume unaltered).
With the car now being a standard, do I need to worry about any of the tranny tables now? Those are the spots in the files that have shown the biggest differences. I am using Tunercat and there is a section of about 40 tables from Normal Mode Up/Down Shift points through to TCC WOT Forced Lock Speed Threshold Vs. Gear. My concern is something is related between the motor and a tranny file.
I would rather be on the safe side and not just blindly upload a file and have it do something bad to the car.

Or just take your A4 bin and change the speedometer settings.

Use the M6 file. The way I understand it is there are differences in the M6 and auto file that can't be seen or changed in Tunercats. The M6 file will ignore the auto tables. I use an M6 file in mine and it worked fine.

Thanks for the info on that. I uploaded the M6 file that I got and it worked fine, and now the speedo looks close. Now hopefully it'll pass an e-test so I can drive/enjoy the car!

I found that using an A4 file that was simply modified for the speedometer got me 10 degrees of timing retarded every time I shifted. Switching to an M6 program remedied this...
