Purchasing LT1 Edit

I want to purchase LT1 Edit to tune my 97. The only place that has it is Carputing for $450. Is there anywhere else I could purchase this for a better price?

No I am not swapping to OBD1.

Anyone know another place I can purchase LT1 edit?

Whats your objection to it (emissions?), its literally plug and play if you know what you're doing. No offense to you but lt1 edit is inferior.

I did not post this as a tunercat vs LT1 Edit thread or OBD1 vs OBD2 thread. I just want to see if there is a better place to purchase the software other than carputing. No offense taken BTW. Thanks for the advise but I want to stick with OBD2.

Carputing is the only place I know of that sells it. It's their product.

Jet offers tunercat for OBD2.

I owned LT1 Edit and Tunercar for OBD1 and from a function and support standpoint there is no reason to consider LT1 Edit the ONLY thing it had going for it was a prettier interface. Had a fair number of limitations and such too. Would really be a poor choice.

All these YEARS later Tunercat still repies within 24 hours to any email I send him about updates or the like. Just an amazing level of support for $90 product bought years ago.

How so?

I have a 95 PCM in mine because nobody had OBDII software when I swapped my cam. OBDII is far better, IMHO.

A '95 PCM (service number 16188051) is OBD1.

I believe the only difference for the OBD2 LT1 PCM is the self emissions crap and such, who cares. It's not "more powerful" and it's far more expensive to tune.

It is actually easier to tune a OBDII because there are more things you can play with.

I know a 95 PCM is OBDI. I'm only using it because back in 98 when I changed the cam, nobody had any software out yet. I was beta testing a Hypertech OBDII product that really didn't work. They were the only ones doing anything at that time. The only way to get a tune was to go back into OBDI, hence why its in there. I never went back to OBDII since I spent the money to buy LT1Edit and wasn't going to do it again when they released their OBDII software.

What specific "more things" are there? I have not used any OBD-II tuning software.

For LT1's there is more idle control, more ignition settings, more fueling tables, etc.

More tables to fine tune. Not saying you can't do that with OBDI but to say its better in every way.

LS1's have even more and are easier to tune because of that.

My experience... I purchased LT1 edit back in 2000. I was new. I went thru many saftware updates with the last being very helpfull (MAF high threshold cal change and BLM lock @ WOT). This solved my WOT fuel problems since I was FI. From all of my testing, when the MAF frequency threshold is exceeded, the OBD2 PCM can cun the injector pulse to half. Big loss in power and lean condition. If you cannot raise the MAF frequency (10.7k to ~65k) you can run lean @ WOT.

Anyway, I ended up with an OBD1 PCM from PCMforLess. I tried the OBD1 conversion. It did not work. So, I attempted to buy OBD1 LT1_edit. Quite the hassel since they bundle the software with a VIN match. I ended up purchase of tuner_cats. Live and learn. LT1_edit version 2.2 works good for me on the OBD2 PCM. No chance of the thing running since I am very modded. I would check carputing and how they bundle their OBD2 software relative to the VIN lock. It usually will link durin the first PCM read, or , flash function. Hope this helps. (97ss 383ci D1 MM6) B.
